Summary Of Analysis

After analysing, I summarised my findings from analysing trailers, posters and websites of a chosen genre.

Trailers:
5 typical conventions used in trailers for horror films:
- Close up camera shots to create realism of actions
- Extreme/Long shots to set scenery and help create genre
- Dark, dull, shadowing lighting
- Unnatural camera angles - birds eye view etc.
- Main colours used: black, red for blood and gore, grey, white, brown, orange, blue

Posters:
- Dull backgrounds (usually black) with large bold bright coloured writing, to catch audiences attention straight away
- Information telling audience date when film is out in cinemas
- Use of imagery from the film, for example the house and the girl on 'the last house on the left'
- Use of dark dull colouring, bright lettering that stands out against background.
- Characters names mentioned on posters near bottom or in corners

Websites:
- Additional information such as: galleries, history, plot etc.
- Links to pages/websites such as facebook and twitter, where users can share the website to a wider audience
- Logo/name of insitution producing film mentioned/placed on website
- Use of dark dull colouring and bright lettering to stand out.
- Link to trailer/trailer placed in website
